Requests for Waivers from State Statutes
Per House Bill 17-1375, school districts must post information on their websites for which the school district has received a waiver from the State Board of Education and, for each waiver that is not an automatic waiver, a copy of the plan that explains the matter in which the school district will meet the intent of the waived statute.
In addition, CRS (Colorado Revised Statute) 22-2-117 states that, “Upon application of the board of education of any school district, the state board, except as prohibited … may waive any of the requirements imposed by this title or by rule promulgated by the state board. The state board shall grant the waiver if it determines that it would enhance educational opportunity and quality within the school district … “
Lewis-Palmer School District has received waivers from the State Board of Education for the following:
C.R.S. §22-7-1014(2)(a): requires the school district to administer a school readiness assessment to each student enrolled in kindergarten.
Lewis-Palmer School District 38 received approval of this waiver request from the State Board of Education on September 15, 2016.

These waivers will be in effect through June 2028 at which time Monument Academy will be required to renew its contract with the Lewis-Palmer School District.
