In May 2017, Extreme Networks recognized the Lewis-Palmer School District Technology Department with their Exemplary Schools Award as "A Visionary 21st Learning Environment" - Recognized for Enabling Personalized Education through the Use of Technology. Extreme Networks recognizes two school districts in the country each year.

During the award presentation, Extreme Network representatives stated that this award is about "recognition for driving student success through the use of technology as opposed to just having technology." When asked what set LPSD apart from other school districts, the reply was, "It is the vision you have for your students." They said, LPSD "has not only put the infrastructure in place but put the right infrastructure in place - infrastructure which is expandable and can handle the rigors put on by various environments and various teachers."
