Lewis-Palmer High School’s Theatre Department kicked off its performance season on Sept. 4 with Oscar Wilde’s timeless comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. Known for its sharp wit and clever satire, the play humorously critiques the absurdity of Victorian society’s rules surrounding marriage and identity. It follows two young men, Jack and Algernon, who create alter egos to escape societal expectations, leading to a whirlwind of misunderstandings and romantic entanglements.
Noelle Garcia, junior and stage manager, shared her pride in the cast and crew's dedication. “Seeing everyone come together in such a short time highlights their professionalism and work ethic,” said Noelle. “I can't thank them enough for their commitment during all of our rehearsals; it truly paid off. The Importance of Being Earnest was an incredible kickoff for LP Theatre this year!"
Katy Oliger, senior, reflected on her experience bringing the production to life. "This show has been such a fun and challenging journey. I’ve loved every moment of putting it together,” Katy said. “Theater throughout high school has been an amazing experience, building my confidence and deepening friendships. I’m sad that Earnest is one of my last shows, but I couldn’t imagine a better way to end my high school theater journey."
The LPHS Theatre’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest showcased the exceptional talent of its cast and crew and highlighted the camaraderie and passion that make high school theater an unforgettable experience for students and audiences alike.
