DECA
DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is an association of marketing students that encourages the development of business and leadership skills through academic conferences and competitions. Each competition includes a written test over business and marketing information, as well as two role-playing, problem-solving events. Students are judged on the basis of their ability to develop and communicate sound, creative, and thorough solutions to the problem situations.
In 1946, the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) organized around an ambitious goal: to improve educational and career opportunities in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship for students. In the years since, DECA has remained on the cutting edge of educational innovation, working with the business community to integrate academic achievement with career and technical skills.
Are you interested in sports and entertainment marketing, in the travel or hospitality business, in fashion, in a retail career, in advertising, in the restaurant trade? Activities and skills in these and any other marketing specialty are available to you in DECA. And along the way, you'll make friendships that will last forever.
We meet every Monday at 7:00 a.m. in room 239 Computer Lab. To be in DECA, students must be enrolled in Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, or Personal Finance 1st Semester.
