Student-athletes and coaches received recognition for their efforts and accolades at a recent Board of Education meeting as Dr. KC Somers, D38 Superintendent, shared some recent highlights in the realm of athletics. Due to the number of accomplishments, many have been summarized below:
Basketball:
Congratulations to Palmer Ridge High School’s men’s and women’s teams for making it to the state tournament. They each fell in a hard-fought battle.
Congratulations also to Lewis-Palmer High School’s men’s team for making it to the state tournament. They fell in a hard-fought sweet-sixteen battle.
Hockey:
The LPHS combined hockey team also earned a state championship trip, falling short against Monarch in the 5A tournament.
Wrestling State Championship:
Congratulations to Isaiah Blackmon for taking 2nd place in the 4A 138 lb division
Additionally, congrats to Blackmon for breaking 100 wins in his career (70 pins in those 100 matches).
PRHS Rock Climbing
Men’s team placed second in regionals, with the following students being state qualifiers:
Benjamin Morris, Sam Lyon, Kierin Furrer, Ryan Gallagher, Carly Hanney, Oakley Longshore
PRHS Softball:
Congrats to Brooke Bornitz for making the 1st team All Area.
LPHS Football:
Caleb Pepper selected as 2023 All-Conference HM Linebacker! He was also nominated for the Burlsworth Foundation Character award, a national award honoring character and sportsmanship in high school football.
