We are thrilled to be working with your children at Bear Creek Elementary! Our role in the Multilingual Learner (ML) Program is to provide support to students who have a first language in addition to English in their home or background. We are here to assist students in gaining confidence and knowledge of the English language, and provide the necessary skills needed to be successful in school. 

Multilingual learners are provided services based on their English proficiency level.  The ACCESS for ML's state assessment is administered to students identified as multilingual learners in Kindergarten through 12th grade each January. Students' proficiency levels are determined by their ACCESS results. 

The ML Program provides instruction and guidance in content area classes as needed, to develop students’ academic English skills. We support students in the classroom, outside of the classroom in a quiet location, or in a small group setting, depending on the needs of the students. We have over 40 languages represented in our school district, some of which include German, Norwegian, French, Arabic, Hebrew, Spanish and Nepalese.

Whether your child will be attending Bear Creek for only one year or for the remainder of their elementary school years, our desire is for them to experience a positive learning environment. Please do not hesitate to contact any ML staff member with questions or concerns.
