4th Grade
Fourth grade at Bear Creek Elementary School is exciting because students start to gain more independence. The focus for math in fourth grade is on multiplication, division, decimals, fractions and a review of geometry principles. Fourth grade reading focuses on building strong comprehension skills and fluency using Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA). Writing in fourth grade begins to transition from descriptive writing into opinion, narrative, report writing, and response to reading. Fourth grade science is very interactive and uses kits to teach units on space, human body systems, and electricity. A field trip to a space related venue is a highlight of the science curriculum. Social studies comes alive in fourth grade with a focus on Colorado history, basic economics and civics. A field trip to a Colorado history related venue always helps to bring our history to life.
