Have you ever wondered what it’s like to fill the role of a Board of Education member? Are you interested in giving back to our community, and supporting D38 staff and students? If so, we’d like to invite you to our informational session about serving as a Board of Education Director.
Engage & Elevate: Board of Education Candidate Informational Session
Thursday, May 1 from 6:00–7:30 p.m.
At the D38 Administration Building
This November, we anticipate having two seats open on our Board of Education. President Tiffiney Upchurch is term-limited, and Vice President Kris Norris is planning to move out of the area. The seats represent Director District 1 and Director District 3. You can view our Director District Maps for details and to confirm you are a resident of those areas. Director District boundaries ensure that school board candidates are distributed districtwide. Although candidates must reside in their district, directors are elected by a districtwide ballot.
Before election season is upon us, D38 will be hosting informational sessions like this for interested individuals to learn more about what it means to serve in this volunteer position. Keep an eye out for additional dates during the summer. Board members and others from the District 38 Team will be present to engage with our community, and to answer questions about the process and role.
Whether you are just starting to consider the opportunity, or already know that running is of interest to you, attending this meeting is a great first step. We look forward to seeing interested community members on May 1.
