Monday, August 21st Assessment Day
8:30-10:30-STUDENTS Grades 1-6
On Monday, August 21st we will be having an Elementary Assessment Day. We will be assessing reading using MAPS NWEA (a computer based individually leveled assessment). Our goal is to assess as many students in grades first through sixth (kindergarteners will NOT attend school on this day and preschool will follow their normal schedule) as possible on this day. This will allow us to cut down on the instructional impact of beginning of the year assessing. The results of these assessments will help us to determine your child’s academic levels for the beginning of the year. We will also determine further reading needs for your child and plan literacy instruction and interventions accordingly.
Please Note:
There will not be regular school on this day. Students will report to school at 8:30 am. Please mark your child’s assessing time on the calendar and be sure your student is here on time as the time listed is our start time. Please make sure you pick up promptly at 10:30am on the designated dismissal side. Although attendance is not mandatory, we strongly encourage your student’s participation.
ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL will follow the same procedures for EAST and WEST side as we use during the week. Students will enter the building through their assigned grade level doors.
Grades 1 and 2 on the EAST SIDE
Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 on the WEST SIDE
(IF your family has a younger sibling dismissed on the EAST side, your older student will join them on the EAST side)
If your child is usually a walker, and you would like him/her to walk on Assessment Day, we will have crossing guards available at the crosswalk intersection of Leather Chaps and Creekside Drive.
Important Reminders:
- There will be no bus transportation and breakfast/lunch will not be provided.
- Students may bring a water bottle-no backpacks needed.
- Leading Edge, before and after school care, will NOT be available at BCES on this day.
