After a fierce season of competition featuring the addition of new teams and programs, Lewis-Palmer School District 38’s Bearbotics program is celebrating growth in 2023.
“The Bearbotics program achieved many new firsts, and all-time highs during the 2022-2023 School Year,” said Mike HInkle, Bearbotics head coach.
New milestones include introducing a robotics team to the elementary school level, swelling membership in the program to 55 total students and racking up 16 awards during the competition season.
Hinkle said these accomplishments wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of all coaches, as well as the volunteers, who have grown to a group of as many as 40 from throughout the community.
With the help of those coaches and volunteers, programs such as the high school-level Bearbotics First Robotics Competition (FRC), reached new heights, including three teams qualifying for the State Championship, and competing in the playoffs. These successes extended to the flagship team, which operates #4068, the number proudly displayed on its flagship robot.
“Bearbotics FRC #4068 is now recognized as a leader in both the education dimension and on the competition field,” Hinkle said, pointing to four awards won through the season by the #4068 team. “We couldn’t be prouder, and we are eager to build on this next year.”
Hinkle said the program is continuing to grow in all areas, and those looking to learn more can learn more here.
